Homemade Non-toxic Chest Rub
This recipe makes about a third of a cup.
- 3 Tbsp coconut oil
- 1 Tbsp oil of choice (sweet almond, grapeseed, or even OrthoEase or OrthoSport etc)
- 1 Tbsp beeswax
- 1 tsp R.C. blend (50 drops)
- Other options include to add Thieves and lavender and slight reduce the amount of R.C. blend. My kids love the smell of lavender so I always add that in. Thieves may be a great added support for the immune system which never hurts!
In a small mason jar set over a small pot of hot water on the stove on low heat (double boiler style only we won’t boil) melt the coconut oil. Add the beeswax pellets and stir until melted. Remove the oil from the heat and allow it to come to room temperature (it shouldn’t be hot to the touch). When the beeswax and coconut oil has cooled but is not solid, add additional oil and R.C. and gently stir to blend everything together. Allow to set up by placing in a cool area or the refrigerator.
Store at room temperature. Remember to not make this in bulk as it will lose effectiveness over time. I generally make one small batch at a time as needed.
